The term "finishes his check" was invented for guys like him: he is always willing to throw the body and is one of the NHL's most physical forecheckers. He will hit anyone and everyone in an opposing sweater but takes few penalties for someone who plays such a physical style. He can also kill penalties, if required. Has better hands than his scoring totals would indicate but will never be a consistent offensive threat.
