He is the epitome of a two-way center and team leader. Offensively, he puts up solid if not spectacular numbers, though they could be higher with fewer defensive responsibilities and additional power-play time. However, coaches love his prowess in the defensive zone; he usually gets the prime defensive assignments and spends a lot of time killing penalties. He knows where to be on the ice most of the time.
