SHARKS, COYOTES SWAP AHL PROSPECTS Thursday, June 14, 2018
The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman Kyle Wood from the Arizona Coyotes for winger Adam Helewka.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks?
In Wood, the Sharks add a promising, all-around defenseman--albeit an inconsistent one. He will initially serve as organizational depth, but Wood has a chance to play a regular shift in San Jose at some point.
What does it give the Arizona Coyotes?
Helewka is a decent winger prospect with pretty good size and playmaking ability. He turns 23 next month, so a change of scenery should help him. He will likely spend most of 2017-18 in the minor leagues.
Fantasy Impact
Neither Wood nor Helewka are recommendable as fantasy assets for 2018-19. Instead, fantasy leaguers should take a wait-and-see approach with both prospects.
