The explosive speed that always characterized his game remained his most notable trait even as he moved through his 30s. He was a breakaway threat who could put pressure on opposing defenses, mostly while killing penalties. He was very effective while his team was shorthanded and valued for his leadership skills. He was always quite durable, despite being on the smallish side. Years of wear and tear led to late-career injuries and retirement.
