Possessed two-way instincts and some scoring ability. When on top of his game, he was creative and made his teammates around him better. Was usually solid on face-offs, despite not being very big. Wasn't very strong, nor was he great at fending off the tight checking, though he improved that aspect over time since he was often up against opponents' top lines.
