By the age of 17, he was already physically ready for the pro stylings of the Kontinental Hockey League, thanks to a solid frame, good skating ability and decent relative strength. As a result, he appeared for both the Russian under-18 and WJC tournament squads. His game translates well to the National Hockey League because he knows how to utilize his physical gifts in order to win puck battles and maintain possession. However, he must prove capable of producing quality numbers in the professional ranks to maximize his NHL prospects.
