HABS GET DEPTH FORWARD FLYNN Monday, March 2, 2015
The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Brian Flynn from the Buffalo Sabres for a fifth-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens?
In Flynn, the Habs get more depth up front. He can play both center and wing and will probably become Montreal's new fourth-line center (since they didn't have a right-handed pivot before this move). It's a deal that could lead to more moves, potentially involving center-turned-winger Eller
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres?
For the Sabres, this was a move that needed to be done (and many more like it) for the future of the club. Flynn wasn't part of the team's long-range plans, so they moved him out and added another future asset. For Buffalo, the rest of the 2014-15 campaign will be about losing as many games as possible.
Fantasy Impact
Flynn doesn't have much fantasy value, but it's even lower now that he's headed to a contender. His ice time will be down in Montreal and he'll be a strict fourth liner (who could also be a healthy scratch from time to time).
