Trade Details
ANAHEIM ADDS ALEXANDER VOLKOV Wednesday, March 24, 2021
The Anaheim Ducks acquired winger Alexander Volkov from the Tampa Bay Lightning for center Antoine Morand and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2023.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks?
For the Ducks, this trade makes a lot of sense because Volkov is a young NHLer who still has some untapped offensive upside. He could improve in Anaheim with greater ice time (something that was unavailable on the stacked Lightning).
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning?
Tampa Bay did Volkov a favor here by sending him to a team that needs more talent. The progression of young forwards such as Ross Colton, Alex Barre-Boulet and Mathieu Joseph this season made this an easy decision to make for the Lightning.
Fantasy Impact
Volkov could become a decent fantasy option down the stretch (and beyond). He figures to see regular playing time, so he is worth picking up in most league formats. His keeper status has also improved dramatically after this trade.
