NICK COUSINS COMES TO VEGAS Monday, February 24, 2020
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward Nick Cousins from the Montreal Canadiens for a fourth-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights?
Vegas was busy on deadline day upgrading the No. 2 goaltending position with the arrival of Robin Lehner, but they also managed to acquire a solid bottom-six forward option in Cousins. The latter can play all three forward positions and should be a nice fit in Vegas. The Golden Knights are clear Cup contenders this year.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens?
Montreal sold off a number of assets at this year's trade deadline, with Cousins being one of the last to go. He was a serviceable player for the Canadiens but his $1 million cap hit was set to expire on July 1. Rather than attempt to re-sign the pending restricted free agent, the Habs accepted a fourth in '21 here.
Fantasy Impact
Cousins does some things well but is not enough of an offensive contributor to be a pickup consideration down the stretch in most fantasy formats.
