Trade Details
WILD ADD ABERG TO THE MIX Wednesday, January 16, 2019
The Minnesota Wild acquired winger Pontus Aberg from the Anaheim Ducks for forward Justin Kloos.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild?
In Aberg, the Wild add a very streaky winger who can be a solid NHL asset when on top of his game. He has speed, versatility (he can play either wing position) and some scoring ability. What he lacks is consistency. Minnesota will be Aberg's fourth team in two years.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks?
The Ducks are shaking things up after going winless in 12 games. Kloos is a smallish forward who can play both center and wing. At the time of the trade, the 25-year-old Kloos was leading the AHL's Iowa Wild in scoring. He will add depth to Anaheim's forward ranks.
Fantasy Impact
Aberg's role with Minnesota will determine whether he benefits from this trade from a fantasy standpoint. Aberg can play anywhere from the first to the fourth line, so stay tuned. As for Kloos, he does not have much value as long as he remains in the AHL. Kloos has just one NHL game on his resume.
