TAYLOR FEDUN DEALT TO DALLAS Saturday, November 10, 2018
The Dallas Stars acquired defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Buffalo Sabres for a seventh-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Dallas Stars?
The Stars have major injury issues along their blueline right now, with three right-handed defenders all currently sidelined with injuries: John Klingberg, Stephen Johns and Connor Carrick. To that end, Fedun will provide a little depth for the here and now, though he may remain at the AHL level (moving from the Rochester Americans to the Texas Stars) until further notice.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres?
For Buffalo, Fedun was not in their plans (either short-term or otherwise). He was toiling down on the farm, where he would have probably remained for all of 2018-19. So, Sabres GM Jason Botterill helped his counterpart Jim Nill here by sending Fedun to the Stars for a last-round draft selection in the 2020 NHL Draft. Botterill and Nill might eventually work on something bigger.
Fantasy Impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Fedun will only be recalled to Dallas if the blueline injuries persist in the coming days/weeks.
