GOLDEN KNIGHTS GET SNIPER TOMAS TATAR Monday, February 26, 2018
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired winger Tomas Tatar from the Detroit Red Wings for a first-round draft pick in 2018, a second-round draft pick in 2019 and a third-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights?
This is a huge deal for the expansion Knights, as Tatar can score goals in bunches and has playoff experience. He should fit in nicely on the third line and provide secondary scoring to a first-year team with huge aspirations heading into the playoffs. After all, Vegas has a chance to finish first overall! This is a big deal.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings?
The Red Wings are reluctant to become sellers at the deadline, but deals like this do not come around very often. In exchange for Tatar, Detroit GM Ken Holland was able to land a first rounder this season, a second rounder next season and a third rounder in '21. This could set Holland up for a big splash this off-season.
Fantasy Impact
Tatar's ice time and role in Vegas may not be as large as his role in Detroit, so proceed with caution with him moving forward. Players who should benefit from Tatar leaving Motown include Tyler Bertuzzi and Martin Frk (both fantasy sleepers from now on). Players such as Oscar Lindberg, Ryan Carpenter and Alex Tuch could lose minutes with Tatar now in Sin City.
