HABS, BLUESHIRTS SWAP AHL VETERANS Thursday, November 30, 2017
The New York Rangers acquired center Peter Holland from the Montreal Canadiens for forward Adam Cracknell.
What does it give the New York Rangers?
The Rangers add a little more offensive depth for their AHL affiliate in Hartford in the form of Holland, a very good minor-league scorer who has always struggled to become a more consistent NHLer. He was off to a slow start this season so another change of scenery could serve him well.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens?
For the Habs, Cracknell adds more physicality and grit to the AHL lineup (especially now that Nicolas Deslauriers is up with the big club). That said, Cracknell might also get the call to Montreal at some point this season. The Canadiens could use a little more grit for their fourth line.
Fantasy Impact
There is not a lot of fantasy value in this deal, since Holland is likely to spend the majority of his time with AHL Hartford and Cracknell is a very limited offensive threat.
