The Blackhawks released Samuelsson (groin) from his professional tryout agreement Friday.
Samuelsson -- who is with the Blackhawks on an amatuer tryout -- is considered day-to-day with a groin injury.
Samuelsson will join the Blackhawks for training camp, TSN reports.
Samuelsson wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Oilers and will become an unrestricted free agent, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Samuelsson was traded from the Coyotes to the Oilers on Wednesday in exchange for forward Mitchell Moroz.
Samuelsson was assigned to AHL Springfield.
Samuelsson signed a one-year (two-way), contract that will pay him $600,000 at the NHL level with the Coyotes on Tuesday, Tim Wharnsby of CBC Sports reports.
