He brings the size NHL teams are looking for in a modern goalie, and he uses it to fill up the bottom of the net with his butterfly. His impressive reflexes and quickness help him adjust well to shooters, and he regularly flashes a nice glove hand. He also works hard on the mental aspect of the position. Too often he plays smaller than his size, staying low in the net and back in his crease (rather than regularly challenging shooters). Like many pure butterfly technicians he can be guilty of hitting his knees too quickly and scrambling. He needs to show more dominance at higher levels to build NHL-level confidence. | |
