John Tortorella's decision to bench Canucks winger Nicklas Jensen has produced criticisms from Vancouver Province columnist Tony Gallagher.
Gallagher asks, "What's the deal with benching Nicklas Jensen? A week ago he was the second coming of Rocket Richard, and we presume a mistake somewhere along the way got him bumped to the fourth line on Wednesday. Further, we presume something else he did Thursday got him put on the bench for the last 25 minutes of the game. For the past two games he hasn't played a moment with Alex Burrows, with whom he had developed considerable chemistry along with Henrik Sedin. With the captain injured, you would think Burrows and Jensen might still play together, but you'd be wrong with this staff. And here we thought Tortorella was good with young players. We were wrong. Putting a player like Jensen on the fourth line is just plain setting up the kid for failure. It's goofy stupid. Hate to break the news to these guys, but the season is over and you need to get some youth into this lineup if you want any fans coming to these games next season. . ."
