Aittokallio didn't report to Avalanche training camp Thursday and has decided to play in his native Finland this season, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.

Aittokallio re-signed with the Avalanche on a one-year, two-way contract, General Fanager reports.

Sami Aittokallio has been returned to the minors. He was pulled in his only NHL appearance this season after allowing three goals on 18 shots. Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be available to dress on Monday.

Sami Aittokallio will make his season debut for the Avalanche Saturday night when he starts in goal against the Lightning.
