Visentin signed a one-year, AHL deal with the Blackhawks' affiliate in Rockford, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Mark Visentin will head to AHL Portland.
Visentin kicked out 29 of 32 shots in his NHL debut on Saturday. He has a 3.30 GAA and .901 save percentage in 44 AHL games this season.
Mark Visentin stopped 29 shots but couldn't overcome a shaky start and was the losing goaltender in his NHL debut as the Phoenix Coyotes took a 3-2 loss Saturday night from the visiting San Jose Sharks.
Visentin allowed two goals to San Jose gunner Joe Pavelski in the first five shots he faced. "I definitely felt the jitters out there, but I thought the team did a great job coming back in the second, definitely helped me feel more comfortable out there," said Visentin, who was Phoenix's second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. "I was having fun at times, but it stinks losing."
Mark Visentin will get his first NHL start Saturday night.
He'll face the shooters of the San Jose Sharks. Mike Smith has been out of action since Mar. 24 and Thomas Greiss has tended to the crease in his absence. The Coyotes want to give some of their younger guys playing time now that the playoffs are out of reach.
The Phoenix Coyotes will call up Mark Visentin.
Visentin has a 3.30 GAA and .901 save percentage in 44 AHL games this season. He will serve as Thomas Greiss' understudy while Mike Smith recovers from a leg injury.
Mark Visentin kicked out 39 of 40 shots in the Portland Pirates' 2-1 win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
It was Visentin's eighth win in 16 AHL games this season. He also has a 2.58 GAA and .921 save percentage.
Mark Visentin was brilliant in Portland's 2-1 win over Providence on Wednesday night, making 48 saves.
Portland was outshot 49-31 in the game, so Visentin's effort in net was the main reason his team emerged with the win. The 20-year-old has been a bit shaky this year, with a 2.70 goals-against average and .916 save percentage, but this game is definitely a good sign.
