Was a big body who could play a sound two-way game. Liked to impose himself physically and could play either wing position or center. Had experience as a scorer at lower levels. Did not have high-end offensive ability, so he was not an option to play a top-six forward role in the NHL. Also, he was not the greatest skater in the league, which hurt his ice time. At lower levels, he was a born leader.
