Earned an NHL job (and kept it for a long time) thanks to his grit, energy and ability to kill penalties. Mainly a center, he was versatile enough to play wing when required. His work ethic was second to none and helped make up for his lack of offense. Took a few bad penalties from time to time. Was hampered by injuries for much of his career, though he became more durable over time.
