Had excellent recovery speed and leadership ability. Played a punishing brand of hockey, was good at keeping the game simple and adept at blocking shots. Could be used effectively in a shutdown role. Lacked offensive ability and struggled when he had to handle the puck a lot. Did not shoot the puck enough. Could get himself out of position when lining opponents up for a big hit. Took bad penalties on occasion.
Long Range Potential: Big, solid defensive defenseman.
