Novak was put on unconditional waivers by the Wild on Friday for the purposes of terminating his contract, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Novak (illness) is expected to take the ice for the Wild during training camp in September, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports.
Novak (illness) announced Wednesday he has beaten cancer.
In a statement released Friday, Novak said "Unfortunately, my health condition does not allow me to prepare for the next season. I was diagnosed with an oncological disease a few days ago and will soon begin treatment."
Novak put pen to paper on a three-year, entry-level deal with Minnesota on Monday.
