Formenton (personal) has been directed to surrender to London, Ontario police to be charged with sexual assault in connection with an alleged incident that occurred during a 2018 Hockey Canada event, TSN reports.

Formenton was granted a leave of absence from Swiss club Ambri Piotta on Wednesday.

Formenton signed with Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss League on Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Formenton agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Swiss club Ambri-Piotta HC on Wednesday.

Formenton didn't sign with Ottawa before 5 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, which makes him ineligible to play in the NHL for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Formenton, a restricted free agent, has yet to sign an extension with the Senators, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Formenton scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blues.
