Trade Details
CANUCKS ACQUIRE WINGER EMERSON ETEM Friday, January 8, 2016
The Vancouver Canucks acquired winger Emerson Etem from the New York Rangers for winger Nicklas Jensen and a sixth-round draft pick in 2017.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks?
In Etem, the Canucks land an ultra-speedy winger who has a history with coach Willie Desjardins (dating back to their WHL days in Medicine Hat). Still only 23 years old, Etem will look to kick-start his NHL career now that he's back in the Western Conference.
What does it give the New York Rangers?
For the Rangers, this deal is about giving Etem more of an opportunity to play regularly (while still getting back value). Jensen has NHL experience and decent upside, plus the club also received a late-round draft pick for a frequent healthy scratch.
Fantasy Impact
Etem's fantasy value should get a boost with his move from New York to Vancouver. Jensen may get a better shot with the Rangers, as well. That said, both players are fantasy dark horses, at best.
