St. Louis Blues Western Conference Central Division
Trade Details
BLUES ACQUIRE OLLI JOKINEN Monday, March 2, 2015
The St. Louis Blues acquired forward Olli Jokinen from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Joakim Lindstrom and a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues?
Big Jokinen is a versatile veteran who prefers to play center, so he's a good bet to play on the Blues' fourth line (down the middle) in place of Goc down the stretch. He should be plenty motivated to do well in St. Louis, since he has barely played in the Stanley Cup playoffs in his lengthy career.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs?
The Maple Leafs were always expected to trade Jokinen right away, since they just acquired him from Nashville due to cap/roster issues. The Leafs didn't get a lot in return, but at least they got something. They will continue to build for the future, so Jokinen wasn't going to be a part of that.
Fantasy Impact
Jokinen won't play enough to become fantasy relevant again, and his NHL days appear to be winding down. The biggest loser here, however, could be Goc (if he loses playing time to Jokinen).
