NICK RITCHIE FOR HEINEN Monday, February 24, 2020
The Boston Bruins acquired winger Nick Ritchie from the Anaheim Ducks for winger Danton Heinen.
What does it give the Boston Bruins?
Heinen may have a bit more scoring upside than Ritchie, but the latter helps teams in more ways at the NHL level. Ritchie is a big body who has played on special teams during his time in the NHL. He joins the same organization that his brother Brett (AHL Providence) plays for. Ritchie has lacked consistency so far in the NHL, but moving to Boston could help him in a major way.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks?
The Ducks finally gave up on Ritchie, who spent parts of the last five seasons in Anaheim. He never put it all together, so the 24-year-old is on the move to Beantown in exchange for Heinen (who turns 25 in July). Heinen never received regular ice time for an extended period of time in Boston, so the Ducks should be able to provide that for him down the stretch this season.
Fantasy Impact
Both Ritchie and Heinen should see their respective fantasy values improve after this deal. Both are worth a speculative pickup in most deep fantasy formats for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign.
