In Nielsen, the Flames get a 22-year-old blueliner who has seemingly been on the cusp of a recall for some time now. And yet, he still awaits his first taste of the NHL. The 6-3, 210 pounder from Red Deer, Alberta might get a better shot at cracking Calgary's lineup at some point (perhaps even in 2018-19), as the Flames' organization is a bit thin at left defense.

Klimchuk, 23, was drafted in the first round (28th overall) by the Flames in 2013 but has just one NHL game under his belt (which came last season). He will provide organizational depth and more scoring for the AHL's Toronto Marlies. However, his chances of cracking Toronto's loaded roster is remote (especially since they have better winger prospects on the Marlies).

This deal could be good for Nielsen, although his fantasy upside is somewhat limited. Klimchuk may have even more trouble cracking the Maple Leafs' lineup eventually, so this deal is likely a net loss for his fantasy future.
