COLUMBUS ACQUIRES RYAN MacINNIS FROM ARIZONA Wednesday, July 18, 2018
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired center Ryan MacInnis from the Arizona Coyotes for defenseman Jacob Graves and a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets?
In MacInnis, the Blue Jackets acquire a forward once highly thought of as a center prospect. He will hope to revive his pro career in Columbus. A change of scenery for MacInnis was probably in order, so this may work out for all parties involved here.
What does it give the Arizona Coyotes?
Graves spent time both in the AHL and ECHL last season, and he is already 23 years old. If he wants to be considered a prospect, he will have to show the Coyotes something early on in 2018-19. An extra draft pick is probably the key part of the deal for Arizona.
Fantasy Impact
MacInnis is more of a defensive-minded center, so his fantasy value is next to zero at this point. Ditto that of Graves, who may never reach the National Hockey League.
