In Stafford, the Bruins land a big winger who has a history of decent production. The 31-year-old has struggled with injuries this season but might have a fresh start in Beantown. He is expected to play a third-line winger role with Boston, possibly alongside Ryan Spooner and Frank Vatrano.

The Jets decided to sell one of their pending unrestricted free agents, rather than try to add something that could get them back in the thick of the playoff chase. Moving on from Stafford should help young wingers such as Marko Dano, Kyle Connor and others gain more ice time in the long run.

Stafford should see a bit more ice time with the Bruins down the stretch, so he should gain a little fantasy value for the rest of 2016-17. An unrestricted free agent on July 1, Stafford's long-range value has yet to be determined.
