BLUE JACKETS ADD DEPTH D-MAN QUINCEY Wednesday, March 1, 2017
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Kyle Quincey from the New Jersey Devils for defenseman Dalton Prout.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets?
The Blue Jackets were looking for a depth upgrade for the blueline, so Quincey should fit the bill perfectly. He might serve as the team's No. 7 defenseman if everybody is healthy, or be placed on the third pairing. His experience should help Columbus down the stretch.
What does it give the New Jersey Devils?
Prout has one more season left on his contract, so he becomes eligible to be exposed by New Jersey in the 2017 expansion draft. He is also a serviceable blueliner who could be used as a depth defenseman for New Jersey this season, and possibly in the future if he goes unclaimed.
Fantasy Impact
Neither Quincey nor Prout will play enough, or provide enough offense, to be considered fantasy factors the rest of the way. There is nothing to see here.
