McDermott (shoulder) will start the first game of Triple-A Norfolk's doubleheader Wednesday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

McDermott was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday with a right scapula stress reaction, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The Orioles optioned McDermott to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

The Orioles selected McDermott's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that McDermott will be called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Wednesday against the Marlins, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
