General manager Chris Young said Wednesday that Latz will be included in the Rangers' Opening Day bullpen, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The Rangers optioned Latz to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Latz was recalled by the Rangers on Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Latz was reassigned to the Rangers' minor-league camp Sunday.
Latz (shoulder) has allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in four appearances since returning from Triple-A Round Rock's 7-day injured list Sept. 6.
Latz, who is on the 7-day injured list with left shoulder impingement syndrome at Triple-A Round Rock, is throwing live batting practice Friday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Latz was sent back to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Latz (0-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Rangers fell 7-2 to Cleveland, giving up three runs on five hits -- including three solo home runs -- over 4.2 innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.
Latz's contract was selected by the Rangers ahead of Wednesday's start against Cleveland, Chris Halicke of SI.com reports.
