Big for a catcher, he is a quality receiver and a pretty good thrower (mainly due to great reactions behind the plate, not sheer arm strength). Is a switch-hitter who makes fairly consistent contact and also displays some potential for more home-run power. Calls a good game and is very smooth around the batter's box (somewhat surprisingly so for a catcher of his size (6'4", 220 pounds). There are concerns about his ability to hit regularly enough at the highest level to warrant No. 1 catcher status.
Long Range Potential: Solid, all-round catcher with some upside.
