The Rangers got some catching depth here with switch-hitting Corporan, who should compete for a roster spot in spring training. Texas has Chirinos as the likely starting catcher and youngsters Telis and Alfaro they like a lot. So the 31-year-old Corporan is viewed as a stopgap measure, though a decent one.

The Astros have been busy collecting catchers this off-season--landing both Conger from the Angels and Gattis from the Braves in separate deals. They also still have Castro and prospect Stassi so Corporan was designated for assignment. Bostick is 19 years old and has plenty of time to develop. Good pickup by Houston here.

Corporan's fantasy value is minimal, as he's expected to serve as a backup (or possibly even third string) with the Rangers. Conger's value improves slightly after this deal, while Telis may be adversely affected by Corporan's arrival.
