Wendle is a journeyman infielder who might be able to find his niche with the Rays, a team notorious for giving opportunities to lesser-lights. He will compete for a bench job in spring training.

The Athletics had recently designated Wendle for assignment, so they were at least able to get something back in return for his services (even if it is only a modest sum of cash in exchange).

There is nothing to see here, as Wendle is not likely to see enough at-bats in Major League Baseball this season to make a fantasy difference.
