The Orioles are constantly looking for pitching upgrades, so it is a good idea to take a chance on a 24-year-old left-hander like Faulkner, who will start out at Triple-A Norfolk. That said, do not be surprised to see Faulkner in the Orioles' bullpen later in 2017.

Faulkner was cut from spring training relatively early this year, so the writing was probably on the wall. He needed a fresh start and the Rangers decided to give it to him. Texas did not receive much in return for Faulkner's services but has better options.

Faulkner does have some strikeout ability, so he may eventually be placed in a position for fantasy success in Baltimore. That said, he is not there yet. Fantasy leaguers need to take a wait-and-see approach with him.
