Cecchini received a spring training invite from the Royals on Saturday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Cecchini was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Cecchini is 17-for-58 (.293) with a home run and four RBI through 16 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Cecchini was optioned to minor league camp Saturday.

Manager Craig Counsell said that Cecchini will have a chance to make the Brewers roster despite the fact that Aaron Hill will get the first crack at the starting third base job, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Red Sox prospect 3B Garin Cecchini was 1-for-3 with a grand slam on Thursday for Triple-A Pawtucket. The 23-year-old also walked and struck out in the game. Cecchini has had a slow month offensively at Pawtucket, as he's batting .217/.299/.367 with four extra-base hits and a 17-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 games. That said, he's now hit safely in four straight games, going 5-for-17 (.294) with two extra-base hits, four runs and six RBI during that span. He's appeared in one game for the Red Sox this season and is likely to return to the majors later in the year.
