Beckham elected free agency Monday after clearing waivers.

Beckham was designated for assignment by the Twins on Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Beckham's contract was purchased from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Beckham (quadriceps) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Beckham (quadriceps) began a rehab assignment Saturday at Single-A Fort Myers and has gone 2-for-7 with a home run and two walks through his first two games with the affiliate.

Beckham will begin the season the 7-day IL at Triple-A St. Paul with a left quad strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Beckham was reassigned to Minnesota's minor league camp. Beckham left Saturday's spring game with an undisclosed injury.
