Tanaka announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he agreed to a one-year contract with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Tanaka will start Game 3 of the ALDS against the Rays on Wednesday, Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com reports.

Tanaka was knocked around in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round against Cleveland, allowing six runs on five hits in four innings, striking out three and walking three.

Tanaka allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks across four innings during the Yankees' 14-1 loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday. He struck out three.

Tanaka's next scheduled start has been pushed back a day to Wednesday against Toronto, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Tanaka (3-2) picked up the win in Thursday's 10-7 victory over the Blue Jays, allowing three runs on seven hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Tanaka (2-2) picked up the win in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing one run on three hits over five innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Tanaka (1-2) allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings as he was charged with the loss Sunday against the Orioles.

Tanaka (1-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Rays, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven.

Tanaka allowed three hits and no walks while striking out four across five scoreless innings in the second game of the team's doubleheader Wednesday against Atlanta. He did not factor into the decision.
