At the dish, he was a great low-ball batter. Hit with good power, had good overall speed and the athleticism to play all three outfield positions. Had the ability to get red-hot with the stick in MLB. Quite streaky, he got into trouble when he started chasing bad pitches. Was not patient or disciplined enough at the plate (which would have helped him get more out of his above-average talent).
