Was extremely polished and poised on the mound. Threw strikes and generated good movement on his pitches. Was a workhorse capable of logging a lot of innings at the big-league level. Struggled to keep the ball down in the strike zone and surrendered too many long balls. Injuries were an issue with him for many years, and it ultimately led to an early retirement at age 34.
