Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has retained pitching coach Jeff Jones for the 2014 season.
Jones has worked as a coach for the Tigers since 2006, serving as the pitching coach the past three seasons. The Tigers also added Dave Clark as their third base coach and outfield instructor. Clark had spent the previous five seasons as a coach with the Astros.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus announced during Sunday's press conference that he'll retain bench coach Gene Lamont for the 2014 season.
Ausmus was quick to note his familiarity with Lamont, and indicated that he would've been his top choice as bench coach regardless of where he was. Lamont's experience and familiarity with the club should help to quell any concerns about Ausmus' lack of managerial experience. He also indicated the the team is in the process of evaluating potential pitching coaches, with incumbent Jeff Jones fully in the mix.
