Had tremendous speed and the range to play center field in Major League Baseball. Hit left-handed pitching very well and stole bases with aplomb. Was comfortable in the leadoff spot. Could also play either corner outfield position. His walk/strikeout ratio sometimes prevented him from seeing regular at-bats and thriving as a leadoff man. Did not have optimum big-league power, either. Lacked consistency, especially when facing right-handed pitching. | |
