Rodriguez (elbow) threw 30-pitch bullpen sessions at Oracle Park on Thursday and Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Rodriguez (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for at least a couple weeks, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right elbow inflammation, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Rodriguez (3-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit over one inning to take the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus Atlanta. He did not issue a walk or strike out a batter.

Rodriguez (3-1) allowed one run on two hits and struck out three over three innings, earning the win over the Rockies on Sunday.

The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez will be the Giants' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Rodriguez (2-1) retired the only batter he faced to earn the extra-inning win over the Astros on Monday.
