Though his fastball dropped a bit into the high 80's over time, he could spot it very well to set up his breaking stuff. He had a good, quick pickoff move that kept runners closer to the base. Was consistent in his ability to keep the hits down to a minimum. When he lost faith in his fastball, or when he would use it when a breaking ball would have been more appropriate (or vice-versa), left-handed batters started pounding him into submission (and power hitters annihilated him, in general). | |
