The Rays selected Montgomery's contract from Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
After going 0-7 as a starter with Triple-A Durham, Montgomery has been converted to the bullpen, where has converted two saves so far. Overall he has pitched 82 innings and has a 6.70 ERA and 1.65, allowing 104 hits and 31 walks against 91 strikeouts.
Montgomery has a 3.99 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 66:19 K:BB in 47.1 innings over his last 10 starts for Double-A Montgomery.
