The Padres and King avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4 million contract with a $15 million mutual option for 2026 on Friday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Yu Darvish will start in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers and King will come in "soon thereafter," Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

King will start Game 1 of the wild-card series against Atlanta on Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

King (13-9) got the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing one run (zero earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings.

King did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Astros, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven in seven innings.

King (12-9) took the loss against Seattle on Wednesday, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings while striking out six.

King (11-7) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

King (10-6) got the win over the Pirates on Tuesday after tossing six scoreless innings while allowing seven hits and no walks. He struck out 10.

The Padres list King (calf) as their scheduled starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.

King (calf) played catch Friday and Saturday and is expected to be available to make a start in the Padres' series in Pittsburgh that runs Tuesday through Thursday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
