The Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball signed Sammons to a one-year contract Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Tigers outrighted Sammons from the 40-man roster Monday after he cleared waivers.

The Tigers optioned Sammons to Triple-A Toledo following Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Sammons did not factor into the decision in Thursday's loss to the Mariners, allowing one run on two hits and one walk over 4.1 innings in relief while striking out four.
