Walls (hip) reported to the Rays' spring training facility in Port Charlotte, Fla. earlier this week and will go through workouts for the next 10-to-14 days before beginning a rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will be shut down from baseball activities for 10-to-14 days due to inflammation in his surgically repaired right hip, Evan Closky of WTSP in Tampa reports.

The Rays transferred Walls (hip) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Walls (hip) is not recovering as quickly as the Rays had originally hoped, MLB.com reports.

The Rays placed Walls (hip) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander revealed last week that it's "unlikely" Walls (hip) will be ready for Opening Day, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that Walls (hip) is on track to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 season, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Walls underwent right hip surgery Monday and is expected to return to participating in baseball activities in February, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Tuesday's AL Wild Card Series opener versus the Rangers.

Walls is absent from the lineup Friday at Toronto.
