The Twins acquired Cartaya from the Dodgers on Thursday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Jose Vasquez.

The Dodgers designated Cartaya for assignment Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Cartaya (back) went 3-for-7 with a double, two walks, two runs and two RBI while starting in both of Double-A Tulsa's first two games of the season.

Manager Dave Roberts noted Saturday that Cartaya has not participated in spring training games due to back soreness, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Cartaya has been on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Tulsa since Aug. 30.

Cartaya is hitting .228/.288/.433 with eight home runs and a 20.9 percent strikeout rate in his last 32 games for Double-A Tulsa.

Cartaya was optioned Monday to minor-league camp by the Dodgers.

Cartaya was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Cartaya hit a composite .254/.389/.503 with 22 homers, 72 RBI and 74 runs across 95 games split between Single-A and High-A this season.

Cartaya (undislcosed) has started in each of High-A Great Lakes' last three games, going 2-for-12 with three walks and two runs.
